About Velocity Business Advisors

Velocity engagements target specific problems to solve and opportunities to capture. Our clients don’t have large consulting budgets, so they need to leverage our proven expertise to get to the heart of a problem and craft a solution that delivers real benefit while mitigating risk.

We intentionally scope and deliver projects this way to avoid lengthy and costly initiatives with unclear results. Our clients have both strategic and tactical challenges. Either way, our approach is the same. We Listen, Discover, Assess, Advise and Implement.

Listen

Listening to our clients and their stakeholders is the critical first step to ensure Velocity understands the problem, its scope, the timeline in which it needs to be solved and management’s level of desire to solve it.

Discover

The scope of the project dictates how much data gathering is actually needed. A comprehensive engagement requires a market opportunity scan, a competitive scan, collecting information on internal operations including financials, product development plans, marketing & sales operations as well as administrative operations.

Velocity’s clients do not have time or money for lengthy consulting projects. They are typically early stage private companies that are nimble and adaptive to ever-changing market conditions. They like their management-consulting partner to think and act the same way. Our approach is to limit the Listen and Discovery phases so that we understand the landscape well enough to develop solid solutions, but without eating up management’s time and running up costs.

Assess

Once the necessary information is gathered to identify potential solutions, we populate our proprietary analytics models to develop an assessment. We do this for each area within scope, whether it is an acquisition, a product expansion, a revenue expansion possibility, a risk analysis, a marketing program, an outsourcing project or whatever. An evaluation of each alternative is made for each potential solution to support the eventual recommendation.

Advise

Now that we have thought through the issues, landscape and solution alternatives, we’ll recommend a course of action we feel best addresses the client’s objectives. We’ll tell you what we would do if we were in your shoes and risking our own reputations and shareholder value. Pros and cons of each alternative will be presented so that the client can validate the advice.
